Very good article. I think it is particularly interesting for us, “aliens” living in the US and baffled with what seems to us so obvious. Until 2015, I lived here on and off only in university cities. And then I became a permanent resident and met the Bible Belt, white rural America and magats. I got tired of asking “but is this even legal?”.
